Message of the day, good (gd being an acronym for good).

We chose this name because when our company was born, we specialised in placing our advertisements inside the MOTD (the message of the day) in Steam games. Even though we have now expanded, Steam will always be our roots, so the name has stuck ever since.

Click  the relevant link under our publishers panel, and follow the simple instructions, once you are satisfied.

You can sign up today by clicking here

In-Game PC publishers – individuals or businesses that run their own game servers, and want to monetize, with adverts on Valve’s Steam platform utilising the “MOTD” (message of the day) OR with Minecraft.

Web publishers – individuals or businesses that run a website, and want to monetise with adverts.

Some of our members will be both.

You can find your user ID on your portal summary page in the members area, just click the small blue button “important details”. You can also find it next to your username, when you’re logged in (excluding the #).  Please remember:  your ID will be a number NOT your username.

This ID is especially important for your plugin config files (Minecraft or Steam).

You can see our most popular countries, by checking out our infographic: click here. These are the countries that request the most ads currently.

If you want to see detailed information about ad availability and rates worldwide then please go to: http://motdgd.com/rates.php

No – If you encourage people to click your ad link this is against our TOS. You risk having your account restricted/suspended, and your earnings forfeited.

For example: you cannot share your link on social media, via a traffic exchange, forum etc.

The only exceptions to this are:

– Using our in-game plugins, to legitimately engage players e.g. with Minecraft you can run a command in exchange for them viewing the ad link that appears on the chat.
– In the rare and unlikely event we have approved it with you.

Yes – this is possible, whether you are an existing customer or a new customer. However, we will need to approve it manually, and not all websites meet our advertisers criteria.

If your website/implementation isn’t approved and you put our adverts on your website/share your link i.e. your portal MOTD link, you risk having your account and earnings restricted/suspended. Equally you will need to ensure the traffic you send us, is of good quality once approved (i.e. ads are in the viewable area, and the audience are genuinely watching the ads).

Your website is more likely to be approved if:

– You get over 2,000 impressions a day (from countries that include – US, UK, DE, FR, ES)
– Your website is gaming related e.g. an online flash game arcade/gaming news site etc.
– You can provide your own video player (though not mandatory)

Your website will not be approved if:

– It promotes gambling/drugs/illegal activities/traffic exchanges etc.
– It is not written in English as the primary language
– It is a blog or forum
– It contains a virus/malicious code
– It looks outdated or lacks content

IMPLEMENTATION

1. Email us on [email protected] or create a support ticket (via members portal) – and tell us your URL.
2. Tell us how many daily impressions you get (approx), and from what countries.
3. Tell us where you want the pre-roll video adverts to appear i.e. before what content.
4. We review your request within 48 hours – if approved we’ll show you how to easily integrate our network.
5. If successful you will get website tags/or other means to show adverts on your website, via a video player.

Note – we don’t support html display banners on external websites, only pre-roll video at this time.

No -sorry, at the moment we only support in-game banners in our MOTD (message of the day) for Steam publishers; the banner size we currently support in-game is 300 x 250 and 728 x 90.

We will make an announcement if/when we permit banners to be used on external websites.

The best thing to do is to create a support ticket, in our member portal for our staff members to examine, and discuss with you; please provide full details of the enquiry.

For more instant support, we are also available on Skype at live:motdgd.

We are in talks to devise a refer a friend scheme for our members, thanks for your patience.

Premium Membership is our way of rewarding our members for those with top quality traffic.

There are definite advantages to becoming a Premium Member (as you would expect). Premium membership qualification is automatically determined on a rolling month to month basis. You will find out on the 1st of each month, whether you qualified for Premium membership or not.

Advantages to Premium Membership include things such as: a monthly prize draw, cheaper early payment fees, priority early payments, faster updating stats etc. You may find a full list of the advantages for Premium Member’s here  (this is a member portal link).

How do I quality for premium membership?

Currently you must:

– Have at least 21 days of activity during the last month
– Have an average TRAQ score of 700+ (this is related to the viewability of ads, and is an internal score, which we measure)

Remember: if you are a Premium Member one month, there is no guarantee you will be a Premium Member the following month, unless your traffic quality is consistently good.

If your account is restricted, we will always provide you with a reason why. We are happy to discuss any issue you with you, with the aim of resolving the problem.

If a support ticket isn’t created for you, please create one (via the member portal), and a member of staff can speak to you about your account.

Payments/Rates/Earnings (15)

All our advertising formats are monetised by advertisers, when they are shown to your users. You can check your statistics any time by going to your member portal, these are updated in near real-time (approx every hour or 20 minutes for premium members).

Videos
When a video is played to a user, this will count as an “impression/ad view”, we credit your account, relative to the CPM rate at the time (click here for our in-game video rates).

Banners & Remnant ads (Non-Videos)
When a banner/remnant ad  is seen by a user, this will count as an “impression/ad view”, we credit your account, relative to the CPM rate at the time (we don’t have a rates page for non-video), but they are paid in line with your revenue share.

You can get a good insight into the months that our advertisers spend the most money, by checking out our infographic: click here

As a generally accepted view – January and August tend to be particularly difficult months for the advertising industry as a whole, whereas the run up to Christmas for example is usually the most prosperous.

We offer a generous revenue share of 80% to all our members (as standard); we believe a revenue share is more beneficial to our members, than quoting a fixed CPM rate. Fixed rates can be restrictive, and a revenue share allows earnings to maximised to their true potential with greater transparency.

If you’re an In-Game PC publisher (Steam or Minecraft)  then the following link will you an indication of yesterdays rates by country: http://motdgd.com/rates.php. However, they change daily due to reflect the fact you have a revenue share. The link will also give you an indication of the demand, and ad availability.

You can increase your video revenue share temporarily by earning and spending loyalty points accordingly (see our loyalty points FAQs).

Rates for non-video (banners and remnant ads) are significantly less than video, but they still pay “something”. These rates are not quoted, but they are variable – on the standard 80% rev share.

We pay 99% of the time in dollars only. This is because the advertising industry works in dollars primarily, our advertisers pay us in dollars, and it’s far easier to manage rates and expectations using dollars.

Even though we’re a UK company, we still prefer dollars. We hope you can understand. If you’re from the UK too and you want to be paid in sterling, we can only do this via a wire transfer.

Yes you do, we just quote our video rates on our rate page as “per 1,000” (CPM) to make it easier to understand, this is industry standard.

We operate on an industry standard “NET 60” model, we can explain how that works:

Example:
If you earn revenue on your account on – say the 25 September, it would automatically be requested for withdrawal on the first day of the following month (e.g. 1 October). It would then move from your confirmed balance, and be added to your pending payments under “account statement” and “payments” on the portal.

The money would then be paid around 60 days later from that date, so from the 1 October, that brings us into 1 December.

We always pay at the start/middle of a month, when our advertisers pay us; we don’t hold onto publisher funds for more than a couple of days, so in this example payment would actually be made between 4-15 December.

If you go to your member area portal and view your account statement, you will see the due date of money we owe you, for example:

2015-01-15 IN 65 DAYS
Pending
$10.00 USD

Some members often ask why it says they will be paid in 65 days on the portal, this is approximate and we typically pay on/a little before the 65 day mark.

There is an early payment option to get paid much faster, see the FAQ on early payments.

Some members often ask why it says they will be paid in 65 days on the portal. This is approximate and payment is normally made on/a little before the 65 day mark.

We operate on an industry standard “NET 60″ model, please see our “when will I get paid?” FAQ to understand the logic behind it.

There is also an early payment option, see the FAQ on “Can I get paid early?”.

We don’t have strict minimum payment rules – anything over $1 will be paid (for early payments and normal payments).

Yes – something that is largely unheard of in our industry is an “early payment facility”, you will be pleased to know that we offer it; an early payment facility is exactly like it sounds, you can get paid without having to wait approx. 60 days.

This facility is offered in exchange for a fee of 13% and 9% (for Premium Members). You can go on your member area portal, and select “request early payment”, under the payments tab. You will be shown the criteria and if you are eligible you will be able to request early payment – you can request one pending withdrawal you have on your account early (of your choice). We will always aim to pay this to you the next working day. However, sometimes it might be made a day or two later, please manage your expectations accordingly.

However, this is on a first come, first served basis, and we budget a “reasonably large pot” each month (for example $10,000) for this facility, once the “pot” has  been depleted for the given month, you will either not be able to get an early payment, or you will be able to withdraw early  a smaller amount than your available funds. Whilst we are trying to increase the “pot” each month, it is not always possible.

You can track how much is left in the pot easily by clicking on early payments and see the  remaining funds available at any time.

This facility will open on the 17th of the month for Premium Members, and the 18th for everyone else, until the funds are depleted. It will close at the latest on the 27th or most likely before, depending on available funds. There is HIGH demand for this facility, so it is first come, first served we cannot make exceptions – sorry.

Why is there a fee?
A fee is payable because – we are paying our members early, before we receive the money ourselves from advertisers. We are using our “own capital”, and therefore we endure: all associated risks, transaction fees, currency exchange fluctuations and the waiting time – on your behalf.

From the members portal if you click on “payments” (on the menu) then “account statement” you should be able to view all the payments that are owed to you, the payment due date, and the status of the payment.

Please note – the payment due date is an approximate date – whilst the month it is due will be correct (we often pay sooner that the date quoted). For example if you have a payment due on the 15th August 2015 (it is not uncommon for us to pay before that date in August 2015).

Generally speaking we pay our members between the 4th-15th of a month. The due dates quoted on your portal will not take into account use of our early payments facility – it assumes standard payout times.

Don’t panic we move your current balance to your account statement area at the start of every month. This is so we can prepare your stats for the new month ahead.

Please go to “payments” then “account statement” on the portal, and you can see all the payments owed to you, and when they are due.

If you want to get paid earlier than the due dates, check out our early payment facility.

Because we have hundreds of payments to process each month – we use MassPay via PayPal.

It’s possible for various reasons that your payment or early payment didn’t get sent properly by MassPay/ the system errored.  When this is the case please let us know, we will re-send your payment out manually ASAP.

Sometimes we have to send manual payments when for example: users haven’t verified themselves on PayPal or need to adjust their PayPal settings in order to receive payments. To avoid delays like please check  your PayPal account is OK prior to your payment due date, and that your PayPal address is correct on our system.

Note – if it’s an early payment we aim to pay this the next working day (again we can re-send these manually if necessary).

It is important to remember the location of your audience will play a major factor in the amount you earn. Generally the higher paying countries, have more/higher paying video campaigns available.

For example – UK audiences will generally see plenty of video content, whereas, audiences in Estonia (for example), will see fewer videos, with a lower CPM. It is all down to advertiser demand for audience destinations. Advertisers typically pay more for prime destinations e.g. English spoken adverts – would be prime in English speaking countries.

Please don’t rule out a lack of campaigns at the current time (we call this low fill rates), or a campaign coming to an end. Usually there is nothing to worry about, as campaigns come and go on a regular basis. As a generally accepted view – January and August tend to be particularly difficult months for the advertising industry as a whole, whereas the run up to Christmas for example is usually the most prosperous.

We try to serve at least a banner or remnant ad (non-video) when a video is unavailable (something is better than nothing). This ensures server owners don’t lose out entirely because of lack of fill rates (despite videos paying more). Fill rates fluctuate up and down throughout the year, this is normal – it doesn’t mean our ad server is broken.

To gain a better understanding of ad availability and rates, please visit http://motdgd.com/rates.php

You must have at least 100 video views before we can give you an accurate estimation.

Message of the day, good (gd being an acronym for good).

We chose this name because when our company was born, we specialised in placing our advertisements inside the MOTD (the message of the day) in Steam games. Even though we have now expanded, Steam will always be our roots, so the name has stuck ever since.

Accounts are optimised by default. When you’ve registered your settings are automatically on our recommended options so you don’t need to change anything, unless you want to experiment.

If you wish to change your settings for example: disabling non-video, or changing the redirect URL (after the video page), then you simply go to “settings” and “MOTD/Ad settings” on the portal.

This is a feature in demand by our members, and we are working on a feature to allow members to customise it – thanks for your patience.

Every time a video or non-video advert is shown to your players, we describe this as an “ad view/impression” and it will be listed in your member portal statistics as an ad view. Please allow up to 1 hour or 20 minutes (premium members) for your statistics to update. A request for an ad is not the same as an ad view e.g. if a player requests and an ad, by going to your ad page, and doesn’t get one, we won’t credit you with a view. This is instead known as an “ad hit”and isn’t shown on the portal.

eCPM stands for “cost per mile” (or in simpler terms cost per 1,000 requests), it is a common term in the advertising industry; it gives you an indication of what you will get paid, we quote it in US dollars .  For example as a publisher, a CPM of $5 means – we would pay you $5.00 per 1,000 users, who view your adverts.

Our rates largely depend on – the location of your audience (by country), and the campaigns we have running. You can visit http://motdgd.com/rates.php to get a better insight into our current average CPM rates (they change daily). From this page you can also get a better understanding of the availability of our ads worldwide.

Percentage of times the video ad played to the end. For example a 30 sec advertisement playing the full 30 secs would result in a completion rate of 100%. The completion rate can be affected by a lot of things such as reloading the page, exiting a game (where applicable) and more.

At MOTDgd we completion rate is one of the ways we measure quality for our advertisers.

CTR stands for “click through rate”; this is based on the percentage of people that view your adverts, and subsequently click on them to find out more about the ad/promotion. We like to see good CTR rates, as that generally resembles good quality traffic – which is great for our advertisers.

When we have a lot of advertising campaigns we would say we have “high fill rates”.

When we have a low amount of advertising campaigns we would say we have “low fill rates”.

For example: The video fill rate in the UK is high (this would mean there are lots of video ad campaigns available in the UK).

When video fill rates are low, there are less campaigns which means, although you might have a lot of traffic trying to request ads, there won’t be many video ads physically available for them to watch. When we can’t show a video we try to at least show a non-video so you earn “something” rather than “nothing”.

Fill rates go up and down throughout the year, and are dictated by many factors included – country, advertiser spend, month in the year etc. It’s important to note, even if CPM rates are high, but the fill rates in your players geos are low, then your earnings will be limited. The best case scenario would be a high CPM rate alongside a high fill rate.

Videos

We currently support HTML5 and JS VPAID ads, Flash (very limited)

Banners (in-game publishers only)

We currently support 300 x 250 and 728 x 90 banners.

Non video ads are: banner ads and remnant ads (very low paying videos)  – these pay very little in comparison to our main video advertisements, but they still pay you something. You will be paid for your non-video views on the banner page (if no ad is found on the video page) and the “thank you page”.

To clarify:

  • The thank you page is the default URL that the video page redirects to after a video is shown. You can change this URL if you wish on the portal, but would lose the benefit of the extra non video revenue.
  • The banner page is the page that is shown if there is no video available, prior to the thank you page, remnant ads (if any) are shown here.

You may of noticed, there is also a banner on the video page, but we (MOTDgd) use this to artificially boost video rates across the network, and therefore, the small amount we earn from this is not directly payable to the member as a “non video” view.

You may get a lot of non videos when there are low fill rates in your players countries (less video ad campaigns available) – fill rates are constantly changing throughout the year, your patience is appreciated. Non video ads are also not guaranteed depending on your region, but they are more plentiful than videos generally.

Remnants ads are classed as “non video ads”, they are technically videos but they pay very little compared to normal pre-roll videos (but generally more than banners). This is why we group them with banners in the “non video section” of your statistics instead of putting them in video ads.

These ads are at the bottom of the video waterfall (which means they are tried last – if there are no other campaigns available), as they are slightly better than banners in isolation. To clarify if no main video ad is available they are shown on on a banner page, right before the “thank you for watching” page.

Under your MOTD/Ad settings you may enter a URL to replace our default “thank you for watching page”. Users would go to this page immediately after our ad page/watching an ad.

If you change the URL, you may lose some non-video revenue (as we monetise the default thank page with banners for you). However, non-video ads pay little, so you are free to do as you wish.

You must NOT under any circumstances try to loop our ads but redirecting to your ad MOTD URL, this is against our TOS.

We currently use our own in-house video player, which works extremely well, and it’s lightweight and not bloated.

We recommend and strongly advise using our “latest” player version under your MOTD/ad settings, which is enabled by default.

In rare scenarios you might find the “Old” player works better for you, and could be true with some gmod/other servers. You are free to experiment with this at your own risk.

If you see a white loading/black screen instead of an ad on our video page – that’s OK, there isn’t always a video ad available in the user’s country (due to fill rates/campaigns). The white loading screen you see, is attempting to search our partners for an ad, and can sometimes take a long time if the player is from a country where there are little/no ads. If no ad is found then the video page will redirect to a black banner page, followed by a thank you page (by default)/or a URL you specified on your portal settings.

We will try to serve at least a banner or remnant ad (non-video) when a main video ad is unavailable (something is better than nothing). This ensures server owners don’t lose out entirely because of lack of fill rates.

Fill rates fluctuate up and down throughout the year, this is normal – it doesn’t mean our ad server is broken.

For more information about ad availability please go to http://motdgd.com/rates.php

Non-videos are more plentiful than video campaigns in general; where we can run a video campaign with our advertisers – we will. However, video campaigns are not always readily available, and this very much depends on the location of your audience.

For example – UK audiences will generally see plenty of video content, whereas, audiences in Estonia (for example), will see few videos and a larger amount of non-videos/banners. It is all down to advertiser demand for audience destinations.

It is a fact that videos pay a higher CPM than non-videos, so we always strive to improve our video availability, to help you earn more.

For information about our video availability and rates please click here.

Unlike a lot of networks, we offer statistics in near real-time and we closely monitor for any unusual activity.

Your statistics/earnings roughly every 20 minutes (for Premium Members), and every hour for everyone else.

This is why we say they are in “near real time”.

Very rarely statistics get stuck, this doesn’t mean we aren’t still counting your impressions/earnings, it just means they haven’t yet updated on your account.

Normally statistics update every hour or 20 minutes (for premium members), when this fails to happen we will manually force statistics to update, but it may take a little while longer for this to happen – please don’t panic 🙂

The Traffic Quality metric is visible to all members. This is available on the dashboard (summary) page on the Portal. This is shown as a five star rating, where it can either be unknown, or 1 star being worst and 5 stars being best. Initially the rating may appear as 3 stars while it works out your traffic patterns and various other metrics.

Traffic quality will not directly affect your revenue, it is just an indication for us and you.

How is it calculated? / How do I increase my traffic quality?

Traffic quality takes into account a variety of factors on your account, internal and external – we don’t reveal the exact basis for calculation. However, there are numerous ways to improve the quality of your traffic, some suggestions include:

– Ensure your ads are fully viewable
– Ensure your audience have an opportunity to click on the ads (impacting your CTR rate)
– Ensure the ads don’t get interrupted when they are playing (impacting your completion rate)
– Ensure your traffic is legitimate, and is not just made up of idle traffic for example

TRAQ is an acronym for “True Advertising Quality”.

In summary, each account has a TRAQ score that ranges from 0 to 1000. All accounts initially start with a score of 500.

A score of 0 is the worst quality possible and indicates serious problems with viewability or other important metrics that our advertisers look at.

A score of 1000  is the best quality possible which indicates advertisements are very likely working as our advertisers intend.

Things not to do which will negatively affect your score are:

– Do not display our ads below the page fold or partially below the page fold, this means the advertisement must be completely in the browser’s viewport (viewable area) when the page is initially loaded
– Do not hide our advertisements
– Do not try to initially display our advertisements in the background, hidden away from being viewed or interacted with at all
– Do not obstruct our advertisements with an overlay or related element
– Not allowing a majority of video advertisements to complete playback or even reach at least 25% of playback

Things which will positively affect your score are:

– Not doing any of the above
– Allowing video ads to play at least 25% of their clip, but ideally nearer 100% to maintain a higher score
– Occasionally showing ads through our Flash version of the video ads player and not just video ads through our HTML5 player (a lot of clients have Flash supported/installed anyway) – this is so we can we verify viewability and other important metrics for our advertisers
– Ensuring video ads are visible to the client as soon as they start playing

These measures allow us to suspend accounts which have been doing things such as using a traffic exchange and therefore improve our traffic’s quality. As such this equals more advertisements/advertisers, and can also lead to higher CPM’s.

No – Iframe’s are generally not allowed, as iframes can be hidden or put out of sight.

If you wish to run ads on your own website/via a custom implementation, you need to contact us, and ensure your operating within our TOS.

http://motdgd.com/publishers/web-publishers/ – please see this link for guidance on our approval process.

Absolutely NOT this is against our TOS.

You WILL be caught if you do, as we can detect fake/exchange traffic, and your account will be restricted.

Our advertisers will not pay for this poor quality traffic, neither will we.

If you don’t know what this is – you have nothing to worry about.

Loyalty points exist to reward our members for simply being loyal members!

On the MOTDgd member portal, you will see a “yellow star icon”, this resembles our loyalty shop where you can spend your points.

Loyalty points are automatically calculated based on your daily impression numbers, and your CTR rate (check the meaning of CTR on our FAQs if you are unsure).

The breakdown (Premium members will earn loyalty points faster than the below):

You get a minimum of 1 loyalty point per 500 daily impressions if your CTR is 0.2% or below.

You will get 2 loyalty points per 500 daily impressions for a CTR at/above 0.4%, 3 loyalty points for a CTR at/above .0.6%, 4 loyalty points for a CTR at/above 0.8%, and finally the maximum number of loyalty points possible per 500 is 5 (for CTR rates of 1% or more).

We appreciate the above will vary as your CTR rate may change frequently, this simple method of calculation above will still apply.

Note – if you have 250 impressions one day, and 250 impressions the next – they will not be added together for the calculation of a loyalty point. You must have at least 500 impressions in one day to earn points.

Loyalty points are updated daily, not in real-time.

You can spend the loyalty points on a variety of things; simply click the “yellow star” icon at the top of the portal to see the loyalty shop.

Each item is fairly simple to understand in practice, for example: a revenue share increase for your next x number of impressions, or access to our API – which allows you to monitor specific server impressions etc.

We will be constantly adding new items to our loyalty shop, this will make using MOTDgd a more enjoyable experience.

We currently offer server owners the ability to monetize the following titles, on their servers:

Counter-Strike: Source
Counter-Strike Global
Day of Defeat: Source
Garry’s Mod
Left For Dead 2 (L4D2)
Nuclear Dawn
Team Fortress 2
No More Room In Hell

The plugin is optional but allows you, advertisers and MOTDgd to be provided with more detailed tracking data, you can use your MOTDgd URL instead if you wish.

We do however, recommend the plugin, as it will give you a better insight into your statistics and earnings breakdown.

Recently (July 2015) we discovered Flash was no longer working on the Steam browser engine. Previously we installed ‘Flash for Other Browsers’ (e.g. Firefox). This was an NPAPI version of Flash Player which worked perfectly fine, but is becoming deprecated.

The preferred version of Flash Player is becoming the PPAPI version. If you download and install the PPAPI version of Flash Player, then restart Steam, you should find Flash fully works on the Steam browser again.

Lack of flash ads

As a result of Valve’s changes we are seeing a lot more HTML5 ads being served versus Flash. This has affected some geos negatively, however, we prefer working with HTML5 as we find it more responsive and less likely to crash than Flash.

Unlimited – we don’t limit your account by number of servers. You can install our plugins/use our services across an unlimited number of servers.

You are not alone, several server owners also run into issues installing the plugin. The best thing to do is to create a support ticket, in our member portal for our staff members to examine, and discuss with you. Please provide your server IPs, the game(s) you are running it with, the version number(s) (if applicable), and details of the problem, this is always helpful when diagnosing any issue.

For more instant support, we are also available on Skype at live:motdgd or on Steam, search IX3L

Sourcemod

The sourcemod plugin is hard coded,  it uses the admflag_reservation.

LUA (Garry’s Mod)

On the plugin it is in the config file:

MOTDgd.SkipRanks = {} — If players is one of these ranks, then the advert will not show up for them, useful for donators or admins, add more like this: {“admin”, “superadmin”, “donator”, “someotherrank”} Supports: ULX, evolve, moderator and Ass

With the API you can develop custom applications which can fetch data such as your statistics.

Please see this link, for a full explanation, and examples: http://motdgd.com/api-framework.html

Yes – the redirect link setting in our Member’s Portal is meant for that purpose.

Go to “Settings”, “My account” then “MOTD/ad settings” to find it, and enter your original server MOTD URL in the redirect link box.

As long as the WxH is at least 640×360 and it’s above the page fold it’s fine – the MOTDgd ads must be above the server rules for example.

This must be done via an iframe/new tag – please contact us so we are aware, if you want to do this.

Note – you may have significantly less adverts as a result of having a new tag for this purpose. We recommend using our default MOTD page URL.

If a MOTD is shown when a player is respawned it will refresh the page. Unfortunately this a bug with Valve games and it is currently unfixable (as the issue is with Valve).

Please download the latest version of our plugin 2.05 which fixes that problem – http://motdgd.com/publishers/steam-publisher/get-plugin-steam/

Our old plugin 2.04 had this bug.

This used occur a lot more frequently than it does now, it has largely been fixed. However, sometimes our adverts are shown in an iframe (especially when fill rates/ad campaigns are low).

When the adverts are shown in the iframe, the console will sometimes give you “spammed text error messages”. This is nothing to worry about, other than it is frustrating to see the text spam. Your physical ad statistics and earnings will not be impacted by the messages, it is to do with advert delivery.

We are sorry for an inconvenience caused.

Minecraft CommandAd 2.0+ (20)

You can follow this link

A webpage that makes the CommandAd 2.0 plugin really easy to install and use.

We can quickly generate a config file using your preferences, and you can save config files too!

You can find a link to our CommandAd config file generator here.

In-game ad links expire after a period of time to protect are advertisers from spam. It’s important for your users to type /ad in-game to generate a new link when this error occurs, which they should click on to see an ad.

If you’re a bungee server owner, and have this message appearing all the time:

You should read and enable IP forwarding on your server: https://www.spigotmc.org/wiki/bungeecord-ip-forwarding/

You must restart bungeecord and spigot too.

If the server is on your local network:

You will never get an ad, due to how the security works, but your players should get ads.

If you’re still stuck after reading the above, please contact support.

We’ve tested the following Spigot versions. Due to the plugin architecture other versions should function correctly, but this is not guaranteed:

Officially tested versions:

1.7.10

1.8.3

1.8.8  (also tested on paper spigot)

1.9     (also tested on paper spigot)

1.9.2

Sure modded servers are not an issue with this plugin – provided you are using the relevant Spigot/CraftBukkit versions supported.

We apologise that CAULDRON is NOT currently supported (we aim to add support for it at a later date).

Unlimited – we don’t limit your account by number of servers. You can install our plugins/use our services across an unlimited number of servers.

No – absolutely not, our system has an intelligent back end system, we only require your MOTDgd member ID to track your earnings/statistics.

This is important to ensure quality for our advertisers when a video is shown. High quality pleases our advertisers, and allows us to run additional advertising campaigns.

When a video is shown, your command(s) will be run at the 30 sec mark.

There are a couple of exceptions: if the ad is shorter than 30 secs, the command(s) will be run when the ad is finished OR if you choose to reward players regardless of whether an ad is shown.  In the latter case if an ad isn’t found the command(s) would be run as soon as we know there isn’t a video available.

We are the first company to put video ads on Minecraft servers, and we have been operating in the Minecraft space since April 2015. We are aware of other companies using text/chat based ads in Minecraft, and we feel our approach is more lucrative to server owners. Videos pay substantially higher rates than text ads.

Yes you can run any custom commands as well as normal Minecraft commands with our plugin.

Yes absolutely – there is no limit.

Commands/Permissions:

All the below commands should be written with the text “cad” beforehand e.g.”/cad cooldown”

Reload

  • Reloads your config file – so you don’t have to restart your server for every change you make
  • This works in the server console only, remember to write cad beforehand no “/” is required

/SetMode ALL, SEQUENTIAL, RANDOM, WEIGHTED

  • Set the reward mode until server restart, (to make a permanent change you need to alter the physical config file)
  • Permission: cad.modify (op only by default)

/Clearall

  • Clears the ad cooldown for all players.
  • Permission: cad.clearcooldown (op only by default)

/Clear <player>

  • Clears the ad cooldown for the named player.
  • Permission: cad.clearcooldown (op only by default)

/GiveReward <player>

  • Give the player a reward manually
  • Permission: cad.reward (false by default)

Immunity (permission only)

  • This grants immunity to the ad link.
  • Permission: cad.immunity (false by default)

Player only Commands

/Cooldown

  • Displays the time, in hours, minutes and seconds, that a user must wait before they can get more rewards for watching adverts.

/Ad

  • Prints a link in the chat to an advert, only for the user.

For player immunity, you will need to download a permissions plugin. The permission cad.immunity on our plugin, will allow you to make people immune from the ad links. It is set to false by default.

Alternatively you can blacklist worlds e.g. if you run some worlds where you don’t want players getting ads. See plugin config file for details.

TOP TIPs:

  • Check your users are waiting until the 30 sec timer has run out on the video ad/the ad has finished, if they close the window too early – nothing will happen (they would have to repeat the process).
  • Check the commands you are running are appropriate for your version of Minecraft.
  • Check your config file preferences, are you rewarding only when there is a video ad or always?
  • Is cooldown enabled, if so it’s possible the player is being affected by cooldown – they should do /cad cooldown in-game to check.
  • If you are trying to manually reward players using the CommandAd commands in-game, check you have the appropriate permissions enabled and you are opped.

Not at the moment – we feel the plugin is extremely flexible and customisable in its current form regardless. We may consider releasing an API for it in the future.

We understand that adblock extensions and software are common nowadays especially with browsers like Chrome.

Our plugin can accurately detect if a user is blocking an advertisement, and will tell them to disable their adblocker, to watch an ad. Once the user has disabled their extension/software they can then watch the ad and then benefit from watching it. This will ensure that you don’t lose out on revenue.

No commands will be run if a user is blocking ads.

Colour codes are supported in all messages.

Our config file generator webpage allows you to easily select different colours (if you wish to use it). Of course you can colour your config file manually too.

Click here for a list of colour codes.

You can colour your messages using & or # and the appropriate number e.g. &2 is a colour code for Dark Green.
Example: “&2 Hello and welcome to my server” will appear in Dark Green as “Hello and welcome to my server”

If you want to use the & or # characters as part of the actual text in your messages and NOT as colour codes, put “\\” before them.
Example: “&2 Welcome \\& have fun!” will appear in Dark Green as “Welcome & have fun!”

There was an old version of CommandAd, and we strongly encourage users to switch over to the new version V2+ it is far better.
